I have now got the smooth tube onto PCB. There was only one problem being a shorted track to ground.

There is quite a  bit of background which you can always expect from a valve, but nothing unusable.  Hopefully when put in a enclosure this will quieten down slightly.

The sound is nice and warm and just gives a slight tonal change to the synthetic sound of my peavey bandit 112.  With the gain turned up high this is some overdrive but nothing too drastic, any more would start sounding floppy and odd so I have established that this is definitely a boost circuit, but some tweaking with input frequencies to the clipping stage and mixing in a dry signal could get something out of it overdrive wise, although I do not think the results would be worth the time.
